Definitions:

lhtfl    : latent heat flux    (W/m2, positive downward, warming the ocean)
shtfl    : sensible heat flux  (W/m2, positive downward)
turbflux : turbulent heat flux (W/m2, positive downward) 
           turbflux = lhtfl + shtfl
nlw      : net long wave heat flux  (W/m2, positive downward)
nsw      : net short wave heat flux (W/m2, positive downward)

nhtfl    : net  heat flux
           nhtfl = lhtfl + shtfl + nlw + nsw

ustress  : zonal wind stress (kg/m/s2, positive eastward)
vstress  : meridional wind stress (kg/m/s2, positive northward)
stress   : wind stress amplitude (kg/m/s2)
           stress = sqrt(ustress^2 + vstress^2)
